Understanding Car Issues

When I began thinking more seriously about car issues, it occurred to me that there were a few things I needed to do if I wanted to make things easier for myself in the long run. For starters, I began taking my car in for regular auto service, which really helped out. It was really interesting to see how many different things had to be fixed every time I went in, but when my car didn't have as many problems, I could tell that it was really paying off. This website is all about understanding and preventing car problems by making better choices.

Renting A Pick-Up Truck: 4 Questions To Ask

by Micheal Barrett

There are many reasons as to why you may need to rent a pick-up truck. Perhaps you need to transport a piece of furniture that's too large to fit in your personal vehicle, or maybe you need to tow something, such as a trailer or RV. Either way, before you sign on the dotted line, there are a few questions you should ask your truck rental service to avoid potential problems or fees later on.

What's the Towing Capacity?

If you'll be doing any towing in your pick-up truck rental, make sure you know exactly what the towing capacity of the truck you're renting will be. If you're going to be hauling something extra heavy, such as a large RV, you may need to upgrade to a truck with a more powerful engine and higher towing capacity. Also be sure to ask if the truck rental comes with a towing package; you may need to add one on or purchase a tow kit yourself otherwise.

What's Your Pricing Structure?

Generally, a truck rental service will charge either by the mile or based on the amount of time you have it. For example, short-term rental services may charge you by the hour. Make sure you're familiar with your rental company's procedures, as well as whether they have a minimum charge, so you can plan accordingly.

Do You Offer Rental Extensions?

In case you end up needing the truck for longer than anticipated, it's also a good idea to find out what your rental company's policy is on extensions. Most are willing to grant an extension so long as you give them a call ahead of time, and you likely won't pay too much extra if you just need the truck for an extra hour or two.

Does the Tank Need to Be Refilled?

Most rental companies will issue you a truck with a full tank of gas, and they will expect the truck to be returned with a full tank as well. If not, you could end up facing additional fees, so be sure to find out what your rental company's policy is before you return your truck with anything less than a full tank!

These are just a few questions work asking before you rent a pick-up truck from local truck rental services. From there, you'll be better informed about your rental and can ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.
