When I began thinking more seriously about car issues, it occurred to me that there were a few things I needed to do if I wanted to make things easier for myself in the long run. For starters, I began taking my car in for regular auto service, which really helped out. It was really interesting to see how many different things had to be fixed every time I went in, but when my car didn't have as many problems, I could tell that it was really paying off. This website is all about understanding and preventing car problems by making better choices.

When you drive, you should not feel your vehicle vibrating and shaking. If your vehicle is vibrating and shaking, there could be a much bigger issue at play. The key is to determine what exactly the issue is and how to move forward.
#1 Out of Balance Wheels
When your wheels get out of balance, you could feel a lot of shaking and vibrating in your wheel and throughout your car when you are driving. If you can't remember the last time you had your tires balanced, getting your tires balanced is a good place to start.
#2 Disconnected Hose
If you feel like the vibrations are coming more from your engine, an issue with your hoses can cause your vehicle to shake. When a hose becomes either disconnected or loose, all the necessary information may not be sent to your engine, causing it to shake. Reattaching the hose, or replacing the hose if it is damaged, may be all that is necessary to fix the issue.
#3 Spark Plugs
It could simply be a spark plug issue with your vehicle. The length of time that spark plugs last can vary greatly, from around 10,000 miles to 60,000 miles. Your spark plugs, or the spark plug wires, may need to be replaced. This can be as easy as pulling out and removing the old spark plugs.
#4 Shocks/Struts
The shocks and struts on your vehicle help absorb all the bumps and vibrations from the road. When your shocks or struts get worn out, you will be able to feel it when you drive. You will notice more vibrations and shaking when you drive, and these sensations may be more pronounced when you are driving at high speeds.
#5 Ball Joints
Your ball joints are connected to your suspense and are another part that can fail and cause your vehicle to feel shaky. When your ball joints get worn down, it affects your suspension and the overall smoothness of your ride. This is more a vibrational feeling from your wheels and your vehicle, and should not affect your ability to shift or accelerate smoothly.
#6 Low Transmission Fluid
When your vehicle is shaking specifically when you are accelerating your vehicle, the transmission fluid in your vehicle may be low. Something as simple and as small as low transmission fluid can really mess with the ride that you get from your vehicle, and cause some scary shaking. You should check the level of your transmission fluid frequently to make sure that it is full and at the right levels.
If your vehicle is shaking when you drive, or the engine is sputtering when you drive, one of the six fixes above may fix your vehicle. The best way to determine what is behind your engine sputtering is to take your vehicle to a mechanic, who can more easily determine the nature of your sputtering engine.
